History

1919

The businessman Wilhelm Quadt founded the leather drive belt factory of the same name in Rheydt-Odenkirchen in December 1919. He mainly supplied the local and regional textile industry (machine manufacturers, weaving mills) with drive belts and leather transmissions as well as the german Reichsbahn with various technical leather articles.

1946

After the Second World War, his son-in-law Anton Schroeren rebuilt the largely destroyed building on the same site. Permanent new developments demanded an expansion of the spatial capacities and so the company moved to the Steinfelder Straße in 1970. There, the existing product range was expanded to include drive belts with tension members and the manufacture of conveyor belts.

W. Quadt History

1987

In 1987, after the death of his father, his son Manfred Schroeren took over the management of the company. Under his leading, the company experienced significant growth in the export sector. For the first time, Quadt belts were delivered directly all over the world. In 1994, we celebrated the 75th anniversary with numerous illustrious guests.

After further successful acquisitions (takeover of Hessische Ledertreibriemenfabrik, Schlatterer commercial agency, etc.), the spatial limits soon became obvious and further expansions were necessary for the expanding conveyor belt sector.

2004

In 2004, after a second relocation, our company moved to its current location at Hocksteiner Weg 24 in Mönchengladbach.

In conjunction with the takeover of Bauss in 2008, we began our own production of profiled tubes and belts for rusticators in the ceramics industry.

Since 2009, the fourth generation has been open to further innovations and in addition to father Manfred, son Marcus Schroeren, a graduate in business administration, has now taken over the management of the company.

2013

For the specific training of our employees, we set up an apprenticeship programme for technical textile assemblers in 2013. Starting with two trainees, the training programme has been continuously expanded and developed ever since.

In the following two years, the production area was significantly enlarged by an extensive production space expansion. This was accompanied by the installation of a new central conveyor belt warehouse and the realignment of the production layout towards lean production.

2016

The company Schlösser + van Dinther in Nettetal is taken over from insolvency in 2016 and re-established as DOBU Spezialbandfabrik. This expanded the product portfolio to include high-quality conveyor and processing belts with seamless, endless tension members made of polyester, Kevlar and steel cord as well as numerous special coatings for a wide range of applications. Furthermore, the trademark rights to the products DOBU, DOBU Trans and DOBU Flor are registered.

In the same year, the first successful training programme were completed. This was followed in 2017 by the entry and support of the KTEX association for the promotion of training as a technical textile assembler (details can be found on this website).

2019

In mid-2019, the second production site was founded in Viersen – Nettetal, which specialises in the drive sector and the special coating of conveyor belts. In the following year, these departments were further expanded in connection with the takeover of the production of tubular bag haul-off belts from WR Verpackungstechnik Rau in Linden.

At the end of 2019, we celebrated the company’s 100th anniversary with a large gala evening attended by well over 200 guests.

2023

In 2023, the Mönchengladbach – Wickrath site was expanded to include a multi-storey sales and administration building. This new building will also create additional production capacity.

The continuous expansion of our production programme, as well as the growing diversity of our customers’ requirements, are proof that everything will continuously revolve around the belt in the future…
